Practitioner listening to a seated patient in a calm clinical room.

Prepare with care

Assess readiness early. Notice patient cues, invite their account, and build a plan that responds to the person in front of you.

Practitioner and patient discussing preferences before a procedure.

Communicate with compassion

Use the three-part check-in, clear explanations, and patient-guided preferences. Keep consent and communication active as the encounter changes.

Practitioner responding attentively to a patient seated in a procedure chair.

Protect the patient’s experience

Recognize escalation, respect requests to stop or change the plan, and coordinate safe, dignified continuity of care without blame.

What to expect

Eight instructional modules bring the method into everyday professional communication: understanding needle anxiety; provider self-awareness and patient assessment; trauma-informed communication and the patient check-in; escalation and discontinuation; the Prepare, Present, and Protect protocols; and full integration. Narrated presentations, patient scenarios, practice guides, and knowledge checks support application. Required examinations follow Module 4 and Module 8. Each requires 90%: 36 of 40 on the mid-course examination and 54 of 60 on the final.

Who this pathway is for

Practitioner enrollment requires an existing, valid qualifying clinical license. Eligible roles include LPN/LVN, RN, APRN/NP, PA (physician assistant), MD or DO (physician), and other specifically approved licensed clinical professionals. An MA, CMA, RMA, CCMA, CNA, PCT, phlebotomy credential, or IV course certificate alone does not establish eligibility;  Fundamentals is the appropriate foundation for those allied-health roles and the only pathway available on student enrollment alone. A student who already holds a separate qualifying clinical license may enter Practitioner based on that license.

A method of care within your existing scope

GentleDraw teaches a patient-centered method of care. It does not provide, replace, or supplement the clinical qualifications or legal authority required to perform a medical procedure. It does not expand, grant, or modify scope of practice. Work only within your existing authorized role, required supervision, organizational policies, and applicable jurisdictional rules for consent, safety, infection prevention, and clinical care.
