Find your GentleDraw foundation

Two distinct pathways, chosen by your current qualifications.

GentleDraw Fundamentals

For phlebotomists, medical assistants, CMAs, RMAs, CCMAs, CNAs, patient care technicians, and other qualifying personnel who perform, prepare for, or support blood collection.

Fundamentals is also the pathway for eligible students who do not yet hold a qualifying clinical license. Your formal job title does not need to be “phlebotomist.”

Credential: Permanent Fundamentals ID Number after successful completion of all requirements, including the 90% passing standard.

GentleDraw Practitioner Certification

For professionals who already hold a valid qualifying clinical license: LPNs/LVNs, RNs, APRNs/NPs, physician assistants, physicians, and other specifically approved licensed clinical professionals.

An MA credential or IV course certificate alone does not establish Practitioner eligibility. A student who already holds a separate qualifying clinical license may enter based on that license.

Credential: Permanent GDPC Credential Number after successful completion of all requirements, including both examinations at 90%.

These pathways reflect distinct professional qualifications. Phlebotomy and medical assisting are generally lateral allied-health roles; course routing is not a ranking of their value.

One method. A thoughtful approach throughout the encounter.

Prepare

Begin with practitioner readiness, observe the patient’s cues, and learn what matters to them before agreeing on a plan.

Present

Use clear, respectful language. Explain before acting, confirm understanding, and respond to the patient’s preferences.

Protect

Maintain consent, recognize changing needs, and coordinate a safe, dignified next step when the plan needs to change.

Learning that connects knowledge with conversation

Work through structured lessons, patient scenarios, reflection, and knowledge checks. Practice language that leaves room for the patient’s account and supports care within your existing authorized role.

The Practitioner video modules include English narration with optional captions in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Haitian Creole. Caption choices support access to the presentation; they do not mean every assessment or companion document is translated.

Build on the right foundation

Special Populations is a supplemental credential built upon the appropriate GDF or GDPC foundation. A separate Mobile Services credential is in development. Neither changes the holder’s underlying professional category or scope.

Before you enroll

Does GentleDraw qualify me to perform a medical procedure?

No. GentleDraw teaches an approach to patient experience. It does not provide, replace, or supplement clinical qualifications or legal authorization to perform any medical procedure. It does not expand, grant, or modify scope. Your work must remain within your education, applicable credentials, authorized role, supervision, workplace policies, and jurisdiction’s requirements.

Can I enroll while I am a student?

Fundamentals is the only course available on the basis of student enrollment alone. Practitioner requires an existing, valid qualifying clinical license. Being enrolled in medical, nursing, or another clinical program does not by itself establish Practitioner eligibility.

Does a permanent number mean my certification is always active?

No. Your Fundamentals ID Number or GDPC Credential Number remains permanent. Active standing depends on completing the maintenance requirements for your specific credential. The two identifiers remain distinct and do not convert into one another.

What if I am choosing training for a school or practice?

Match each learner to the foundation supported by their current qualifications. Review the course eligibility requirements before arranging enrollment. GentleDraw complements an appropriate care setting that allows time for patient-centered communication and support.
